Drying out…

There is the odd game I cover pitchside where I’ll end up pretty damp, but once in a while there will be a match where the rain is relentless… like today’s fixture at the Tameside Stadium. It may be to do with the fact this particular venue is on flat marshy land by a motorway, open to the elements. All this combined to provide incessant driving rain all afternoon and early evening.

I even decided to leave most of my gear in the car as didn’t want to take the risk of damaging all three cameras (and the laptop), so decided to take my chances with nothing but the D3 and the 70/200mm f2.8 lens.

The floodlights weren’t in the greatest condone (intermittent and patchy coverage), so I found myself shooting over 6400 ISO even before half time! Managed to catch one goal at least, and two celebrations, which in the circumstances is a reasonable return… Processed as quick as possible and then straight home for a hot shower and then bed!

Great shot Matt in those conditions.
The pic reminds me of a 1970’s spot the ball coupon.
